Electronics & Communication Engineering

Academic Block - 1

Introduction

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was started in the year 1998 with an intake of 40. The Department has seen remarkable growth in terms of quality of student’s intake. Presently, the intake of the Undergraduate Program is 180. Undergraduate Program is accredited 4 times, recent being in the year 2020-21 for 03 years and is committed to excellent teaching & learning process and assure on quality education to all stakeholders.

The Department is currently headed by Dr. Arun Kumar G. The Department has 2 Iece Student Chapters:

  • Iece Robotics & Automation Society and
  • Iece Signal Processing Society
These 2 Iece societies have received Iece grants to the tune of $1200. In addition to it, another Student Forum is in the department named “QUANTA”.

The department has 43% faculty members with doctorate while rest all the faculty members are pursuing Ph.D. from reputed universities. They have published sufficient number of research paper in various referred journals (SCOPUS, WoS, SCI etc.). Faculty members have also filed and published 20 patents. Currently 4 research projects have been funded from various funding agencies. The department has 9 technical staff, out of which 2 staff members possess M.Tech. degree, remaining 7 are B.Tech.

Department has sufficient labs equipped with necessary hardware and software to meet the curriculum requirements at undergraduate and post graduate level, they also meet beyond the syllabus requirements. Project lab has been setup to add up to the learning of the students. The achievements of the students during and after graduation, faculty specialization, up-gradation in several domain areas and infrastructure to provide the latest lab facilities for research and project work are some of the highlights of the department.

Student Forum “QUANTA”

QUANTA is the official society of the Electronics & Communication department of JSS Academy of Technical Education. It is a group of students from all the four years, who have an urge to mould the ideas imparted to them through theoretical knowledge into reality and envisage a society guided by innovation and advancement.

MISSION

Our Mission has always been to ignite the spark of any student who wishes to broaden their skillset and provide them with a platform where they can reach various dimensions of next generation electronics through their knowledge, creativity, and imagination.

VISION

Our society envisions to introduce the students to the new features of electronics and technology and to assist them to transform their ideas to create real world applications. We aim to compete with the latest forms of technology and harness the efforts of the like-minded people in order to create a pool of learning and growing.

Research Initiatives

ECE Department has categorised research initiatives into four modules viz Communication, VLSI & Embedded Systems, Signal Processing and Electronic Devices and Circuits. Each module is headed by a subject expert. In each module, faculty of their own area of interest are grouped together. Uniformity is maintained amongst all the four modules with respect to research initiatives. The Departmental R&D committee has motivated all the faculty members to publish papers in refereed journals (WoS, SCI and Scopus) and also guiding them to bring their work in the form of Prototype model which can be PATENTABLE.
